Development Projects
1.
Industrial Growth Centre
The Government of India has approved one Industrial Growth Centre Project at Lamlai-Napet at
a project cost of Rs.30 crores of which Rs.15 crores will be Government of India contribution, Rs.5 crores as State Government contribution, Rs.4 crores as loan/equity contribution from the financial
institutions and Rs. 6 crores
as loan/equity from other sources. A sum of Rs.1.50 crore
has been sanctioned and released by the Government of India, so far. Land
acquisition is under process.
2. Integrated Infrastructural
Development (IID)
The Government of India has sanctioned the IID Project at Moreh for a total project cost of Rs.
5.75 crores of which the Government of India’s
share is Rs. 4.00 crores, Rs. 1.00 crore as loan from SIDBI
and Rs. 0.75 crore as State
Share. Land acquisition is under process.

The Government of India has approved the EPIP project at Khunuta Chingjin in Kakching sub-division of Thoubal
district at a project cost of Rs. 15.00 crores of which Government of India’s share is Rs. 10 crores and the State
equity/financial institution share is Rs. 5.00 crores. Land acquisition is under process.
4. Trade Centres
(TC)
The Government of India has already sanctioned Rs. 2.00 crores for construction
of the two Trade Centres, one at Moreh
and another at Imphal @ Rs.
1 crore each. Construction of Moreh
Trade Centre is completed and construction of Imphal Trade Centre at Porompat is in full swing.
Mineral
Development
Mapping: Systematic geological mapping has so
far covered 58% of the total area of 22,327 sq. km. of Manipur and 42% still
remains uncover.
Mineral Exploration: Explorations are mainly concentrated on limestones,
chromite, idocrase, serpentinite, sand and clay, out of which, only limestone
exploration could be taken up.
The Department pursued with the Ministry of Mines, Government of India for
obtaining clearance of a project proposal on mineral exploration namely "Contribution
to a sustainable socio-economic development of Manipur State: Supply of
equipment along with related assistance to Department of Geology & Mining,
Government of Manipur" to be implemented with the assistance of BRGM,
France. The proposal is under consideration of Ministry of Mines for onward
transmission to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Government of India. The
estimated cost of the project is about Rs. 10.00 crore.
Another project proposal named "DOVEMAP" (Development of Village
Economy through Mineral Appraisal Programme) has
also submitted to the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India for
funding. The aim of the project is amongst other, to locate low cost but large
potential mineral resources in the villages and to study various factors and
parameters affecting development aspects of rural economy encompassing
minerals, water and terrain for planned exploitation.
The Geology & Mining Division is also presently engaged in the sponsored
works on geotechnical investigations of the Loktak Downstream Project, NHPC.
