Functions and duties:

  1. Governing Body:

The Council has a Governing Body, which consists of a wide distribution of members with expertise in various fields. The Governing Body has the full authority over the Council and shall be responsible for general supervision, direction, and control of its operational matters. The Governing Body consists of the following members, namely:
(a) Chairman, (b) Vice-Chairman, (c) Official and nominated members and (d) Member Secretary.

The tenure of the Governing Body shall be 3 years. All nominated members shall be nominated by the State Government.

  1. Executive Committee:

The Executive Committee will be constituted by eight members viz.

    1. Minister (S&T), Manipur

- Chairman

    1. Commissioner/Secretary (Plg), Govt. of Manipur

- Member

    1. Commissioner/Secretary (Finance), Govt. of Manipur

- Member

    1. Representative, Director (S&T), Govt. of India

- Member

    1. Scientist-in-Charge, RRL, Jorhat Sub-Station, Imphal (CSIR Representative)

- Member

    1. Representative, Science Teachers’ Forum, Manipur

- Member

    1. Director (S&T), Govt. of Manipur

- Member

    1. Commissioner/Secretary (S&T), Govt. of Manipur

- Member Secretary

The Executive Committee shall have full executive power over the Council. The Executive Committee shall hold meetings as and when required.

  1. Council Secretariat:

The Council has a Secretariat. The Member-Secretary is the Chief of the Council Secretariat.
The Member-Secretary is responsible for coordinating and supervising the programmes and projects to ensure their successful implementation and exercising such other powers as deemed fit and authorised by the Executive Committee from time to time.
The Council Secretariat, supported by DST, GoI, under the scheme Assistance to State S&T Councils, will exercise the General Administration of the Council other than the activities on Schemes/Projects to be carried out.
